Jeremiah 3:15
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Pastor Dodson was born on June 21, 1949 in Bonham, Texas to Lloyd and Doris Dodson. He was raised in Bonham and graduated High School from there in 1967. He attended Grayson County Jr. College before enlisting in the Navy in 1968. After being honorably discharged in 1971, he went to work for the VA Hospital until 1980. After being discharged from the Navy, Pastor Dodson met and married Debra Lynn Travis on November 23, 1972.
Pastor Dodson was saved in April of 1973. He was led to the Lord by Evan New and joined Central Baptist Church, in Bonham, TX. He immediately became involved in all areas of church ministry from Sunday school teacher, Bus Captain, Deacon, and whatever else was needed.
While on a mission’s trip to Mt. Hebron, Monterrey Mexico, during the summer of 1975, Pastor Dodson yielded his life to full time service. In September, 1975 he answered God’s calling on his life and surrendered to preach.
Pastor Dodson has an Associate Degree from Paris Jr. College, BA Degree in Christian Education, Master Degree in English Bible and a Doctrine of Ministry Degree from Baptist Christian College. He also has an Honorary Doctorate from Oklahoma Baptist College.
Pastor Dodson served as a Christian School Teacher and Dean of Students before entering the Pastorate. He pastored Merriman Baptist Church in Ranger Texas from 1983 – 1986. He then answered the Lord’s calling as Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Center, Texas, where he currently has served from 1986 until the present time.
